Is it to 'picture that comes with the frame' type stuff?

Just wanted to get some input.

I had to say this.

''You might want to add some more subdivisions to the vray light plane or pump up the GI because the light really stops behind the face.''

Now for serious things, The shot is perfect, good angle, you can diverse the picture into 3 parts and that is good. nice and centered , good pose, lighting is good, but yes, you might want to shoot without noise. Was it your ISO or is this photoshopy work?

Turn up your GI multipler and use a lower ISO.

I dont mind the grain, i dont love it either. its an either or sort of deal. I sort of feel like its the sort of shot where you can get away with it because it feels like a spontanious moment you wont be able to catch again.

Considering that, the only slight flaw (and very very slight) is that the eyes are the key here, and it seems like the focus is very very slightly out losing a bit of impact on those eyes. Depending on your camera you can manual focus the eyes, otherwise eh... dont worry about it. its not massive

But. I like it. I cant argue with its personal and warm feeling. I dig a good photo of kids that doesnt involve dropping the poor thing into a flower pot with bows tied around their heads.

To answer your question... its not too picture that comes with the frame sort of shot. But it depends how you feel yourself about it. Often when chosing photos I like I sometimes wont go for the brilliant mazing one, I go with the ones that make me feel all warm and fuzzy. If this gives you warm fuzzys... go with it

I'm kinda torn between liking the graininess as something that adds to the "warm fuzzy" effect and disliking it as something I could not control.
That is I think I would like the graininess if it were something I had control over.

I can't find the GI settings on this damn camera!

Trying to get a decent picture, any picture, of this small child was like trying to get a picture of bigfoot or a fart in a whirlwind.
I was just happy to get one of her looking at me and it be mostly in focus.

Thanks all, I'll keep working on it.

Try gluing strings to make her smile. Glue a few more elsewhere to make a living string puppet.
