Finally a worthwhile upgrade!! has anyone else had a chance to try it out?.
I've just been playing around with the new openGL transform tools. smoothly zoom and rotate without jaggies at different zoom factors. I'm looking forward to doing some painting!.

When you do try it.

enable GPU stuff in the properties then,

R = free rotate
Z = zoom
Hold left click to smooth zoom in
alt left click to zoom out.
H = quick zoom to 100% smile.gif

Could be worth the upgrade for people doing lots of freehand painting.

Just another program to add to the list of things to try... sounds good though.

Actually the openGL function for zooming is only available with the direct X 10 if Im not mistaking. So the users that have stayed into the XP system cannot work it..
I liked mostly the transformation tool that doesn't scale the whole image but only the background!

nope, I've got it running on XP professional. all the open GL stuff works fine. but you do need a fairly recent graphics card.

It seams you have right.
I searched it a bit coz openGl doesnt work on my system (GeForce 8800GT) and found that many GeForce users have the same problem with there drivers... :/

thats strange. the 8800gt is fairly recent. I have a Geforce 7900 go in my laptop and it runs cs4's Open GL features perfectly as well. I have the stock drivers that came with the machine too because any updates from nvidia don't seem to fit the "go" version of that card. I now have a geforce GTX 260 and it also does runs it all just fine. Maybe theres another reason for your problem. This is probably a dumb suggestion but you have activated GPU processing in your general preferences right?.

"R = free rotate

Is that really worth paying over 4 grand for tho? I mean these arn't features they are bug fixes. Painter has had the rotate tool as long as I can remember.

I mean sure if you are gonna steal it maybe it is worth the bandwidth, but 4 grand, seriously Photoshop 8 is just as good as CS3.

Sorry for my rant im just getting a bit tired of adobe buying everything up and making a few minor changes and calling it a new version every other month.

Yeah agreed, even though its probably the most significant update since photoshop 7, for most people its probably not worth the price tag just for the ability to rotate the view.
