I am extremely new to using 3DS Max but i've been requested to produce an animation of water flowing through pipework and then filling up a vessel. I have experience in other 3D packages (inventor, AutoCAD) but i'm struggling for where to start in 3DS.
I have been through the tutorials and there is even one about flow through pipes which i understand. The problem i have is in actually modelling the pipework? I am not sure where to start in order to produce accurate pipework and run splines through their centre so the flow can be animated through them.
Any help in the matter (links to tutorials or examples) would be greatly appreciated as i only have 2 weeks to come up with something and if i can get it work i have funding to train myself on 3DS and get what i need.
I am using 3DS Max 9 or 2008

1: Create a cyclinder and drag out a spline along the path you want your pipes to go.
2: Convert pipe to an editable poly, select the top polygon and click extrude along spline. Select the spline you dragged out and adjust the number of segments until it looks nice and smooth
3: Select the top and bottom polygons and delete them.
4: Add a shell modifier and adjust settings to your liking.
