Hallo, I've been curious for a while now, about how- if there is indeed a way- to project a shadow onto a transparent object, and have the shadow show at full opacity. I'm wondering how to do this because I'm wanting to be able to put 3d objects into real life photos, and have the object cast a shadow in the picture. Can this be done by aligning transparent planes and pictures carefully? or does it have to be done in post production?

You can do it in max, just apply a matte/shadow material to the plane. You shouldn't need to alter any settings.
