Hi all. I'm using reactor for the first time and even though I have the basic animation set up, I'm getting some weird results. The basic scene is a couple of chips falling onto an office table. Everything seems to be working okay but the chips are resting a good couple of inches above the plane of the desk. I've tried playing with the simulation geometry properties of the table but to no avail.

Any ideas?

Many thanks in advance

Is the simulation geometry set to mesh convex hull?

Or perhaps the collision tolerance?

Click your Hammer icon at the top of the modifier panel, and choose Reactor.

Then in the World rollout turn down the collision tolerance.

@Gustave

I have tried bounding box and all the other options. Doesn't seem to make a difference.

@VarnishedOtter

The collision tolerance doesn't change the height at which both falling objects are resting.

I've looked again at the preview animation and it appears they're resting at the same height as the keyboard and phone objects. However, when I removed them from the rigid body collection I got the same result regardless.

I'm properly baffled.

I don't suppose, if I posted a copy, anyone would care to take a look at the scene itself?

I'll have a look.

Try scaling your whole scene up about 500% and drop the collision tollerance a bit. You might have to tweak some other settings as well to get the right look.

Some time ago I read a tutorial on this, the guy did something that put a gizmo around the object that allowed him to adjust the space between objects.

Unfortunately I wasn't into reactor at the time, so I don't remember how to do it, and can't find the tut again.

But yes, like Gustave said, scaling up the scene will help greatly because the space between objects will be small relative to the larger objects. In some cases, after you create the animation, you can move an object down or even scale it up (without creating new key frames) to meet the surface and it will still look good.

In the end I moved the invisible elements to match the output I wanted. Not element but it works. I do have another question but I'll pose that in another thread.

Thanks all for taking the time.
