I'm having issues with Realflows wetmaps. I have no problems generating them, except they are a bit messed up.

The only correlation I can find is that it will work with primitives created in realfow, but as soon as I import an object (whether in Realflows .SD, .3DS or .OBJ) things go haywire. The maps generated on imported object, ASWELL as realflow primitives then now are messed up.

Its like one half of the texture renders fine, but the other half (its split in diagonals, go figure) is like its scaled way up out of proportion.

The first 3 images is when I load a new project with a standard cube and circular emitter from within realflow.

The next 3 are when I import my models into realflow.

You can see in the first three it looks like its meant to, all of the water drops are traced as they move across the texture.

But in the others half of the image (top left) is good (just looks small because of different UV map), but the other half of the texture is a right mess.

I have tried every different combination of applying UV mapping before I import into realflow and it makes no difference.

Its like once I import, the scaling system of something like that goes bonkers.

Any light to shed on this would be appreciated.

Can you alter the world scale in realflow? Maybe you need to try and make the world scale in both programs the same.

I tried that, no avail.

What should the images look like? They don't look all that bad to me.

Well the object I was doing it on was a large rectanglular box. So if you can imagine one of the first three images, but scaled down in the center of the texture, but it seems to scatter everywhere where it shouldn't when I use imported geometry.

What does your mesh look like? If you've got lots of odd sized polys things might get messed up.

Its just a box.

Can't you use the realflow primitives then?

I still need other geometry in the scene to interact with the water, even though only the box gets a wetmap. And its whenever you import any geometry in, all objects are affected.

I found a forum post somewhere saying that you have to apply a map to your object before you export it from max. Maybe try that.

I kind of resigned to the fact that I aint gonna get it to work. Maybe if I use enough particles it wont need them...

*goes off to start a 100 million particle sim*

I tried a sim with particle res at 100x (default is 1x) last night and only got about 15 frames before I ran out of RAM.
