Hi,
I'm pretty new to 3ds max and I encountered some problems with rendering.

Anything I render to an avi file now, doesn't matter which renderer I use, suddenly is only in black and white. In 3ds max every frame it renders shows colour, just the output doesnt.
I can't imagine what setting I've changed to make that happen.

Can anyone enlighten me with a solution?

thx...

EDIT: I'm using a sub material type material. One with just a white blinn, and a transparancy map. Doesn't matter I guess, because when I use dummy materials for faster rendering, it's only black and white too.

could be the codec settings. I'd say render to a sequence of tgas and build avis or mov files by loading the frames in ram player and saving movies files out that way. then you can experiment with different types of avi compression etc..

Ok put a solved before this post!

Thx for the reply +Tyson.
I have taken another codec. And only one works with what I have. but it does what I want it to do so it works for me... If I use the standard video compression codec, doesn't matter if I render with mental ray or the standard one, I get multipe black and white results if there are transparent items in my project..
Guess I'll have to use the one that worked now: Microsoft Video 1.

I should probably search for some more plugins, renderers and video codecs...
