Yes the problem is that you have the assigned renderer as "VUE File Renderer".
Choose the default scanline or mental ray, or just use Vray if you have it.

Yeh, I probably should have elaborated on my answer a bit...
I had a look at the help file to see exactly what the VUE renderer does or when it could come in handy but I couldn't quite figure it out. Does anyone know what sort of situation you'd use it in?

Its for saving out scene information. like perhaps camera animation co-ordinates for use in another application. never used it myself.

Not the landscape generator it doesn't. Vue is the extension of the files outputed from the renderer. Not sure what it's short for or if it's an acronym.
