Hello!

I am new to 3ds Max, having come from Maya. I am trying to create 3d text using the Truetype font of our company logo. Everything is fine, except the letter K. When I choose the Extrude Modifier, only the outline extrudes, and the ends do not get capped, even though it is selected to. I also notice that the default coloring of the new object is on the Inside surfaces of the letter. I believe I need to do the spline equivalent of 'reverse normals' but I have no idea how to go about it. I downloaded a script called Splinetools that claimed to be able to do this, but it was written for a much older version of Max and will not run.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks for your time. I'd rather not buy a text-to-DXF program if I can do this inside of Max.

Well, I found a way around the problem by extruding, converting to mesh, then flipping the normals of each individual face. Then I was able to cap the ends. If anyone know a shorter way to do this, I would still be interested!

Thanks!

Convert your spline to editable poly before you extrude it. I think that works. But I haven't done text for a while.
