Hi there,

Does anyone know a good tutorial on how to rig a foot?

I found a couple, and a very good one from CGway.net but they all end up with the foot stretching. I want a tutorial on how to rig a foot where the end result doesn't have a stretchy foot.

So basically, I don't want my feet to stretch at all or any limbs. Why? Because when I move them, I have to be careful that the limbs stay in proportion.

Or is there a trick to maintain that?

Thanks

JHawks

I'm not really much of an animator, but rigging problems are usually caused by the size of your envelopes.

Oh nah nah. My problem has nothing to do with the envelopes. I covered that. It's the bones that stretch.

I'm following a rigging tutorial from CG Academy with the Ogre example. The guy made bones that ends up stretching when it reaches its maximum pull.

Guess I'll just have to script it XD.gif

I've never had a problem with bones stretching. Are you using actual bones or just bits of geometry?

I use actual bones. Here's the thing though...

The tutorial made two bones for the feet. One to control the leg and one to control the feet. After he placed IK Chains on the leg and connected the foot to the leg, the bones separate when they go too far apart, thus causing the mesh to stretch. He "fixed" this by doing some scripting and made the leg bones stretch as the end of that bone was still "attached" to the foot bone.

Anyway, I decide to go against this tutorial and instead obtained a pre rigged skeleton from a friend by Brad Noble (sp?)

Ok. I've never heard of that stretching and scripting thing being done before.
