Love it! This is such a good base object for a complex, robot-machine. It is really thought off well and everything seems to fit perfectly and realisticly so far. maybe hang some wires on it from the top to the point where it turns? like in Half life 2, with the robot named Dog.
I'd love to be able to give him a really nice rig. That's something I'm not that proficient at so I hope I'm not biting off more than I can chew.
Chris
Thanks, There are way too many finger puns I could have made hahaha.
The ideas have been flowing good so far. I'm kinda drawing a blank when it comes to the torso though. I know what I want the head to look like but I'm having a hard time modeling it for some reason
Chris
I have that dvd sitting on my desk right now, just waiting for me to have a chance to watch it. Now I'm gonna keep my eyes out. Please support us and post a [Link to www.digitalartsfront.com] on your website.
I didn't do a complete sketch but I tried to sketch the overall idea as it came.
No matter what I do there is always some sort of sketch involved. More and more I feel like a few standard primitives stuck together in Max are as good as a pen and paper. Here are the crude sketches. I'm sure you will find the head in the mess, I can't get the 3D head to look like the sketch. I know it kinda looks "butt like" but it's supposed to be brain like.
I looked at some Ghost In The Shell vids on youtube, definitely inspiring., not sure how that would help with the rig.
Again, thanks to all for the constructive crits and praise.
Chris
That would be uhhhhh a brain plug? Now I'm just embarrassed.
I think I get what you mean now. I know very little about planning for the over-all appeal. All I can do is hope that my taste and whatever sense of composition I have will come through in the final product.
For now I have primitives in various places to fill in the gaps.
Chris
This is getting some serious shape now. I love the armpatches and details that you are adding to it. It looks just fine. I like the way you just build on part by part. this might not look like it, but it is an awesome training you do to yourself. I mean, the more we model and build, the more we know about Max and Vray
It really is looking good. I'm really gonna have to work hard to contend this. Please support us and post a [Link to www.digitalartsfront.com] on your website.
The original idea was to treat the bot as sort of a skeleton and partially cover it with acrylic armor. I'm still having problems with the torso. I don't want it to be like ribs but don't want this big solid mass either.
I hope the new challenge doesn't keep you meatbags from offering suggestions
Of course not Chris, we're all friends here. I would suggest that you scrap the whole thing and just sumbit a few primatives loosely assembled as a robot. It's a sure winner![Link to www.3dprevis.com]
Hey I like that, I was thinking about a power source thingy like you have at the top of the column. I think I'll bring the neck down between the struts and into the hips.
Chris
It's a "Blend" of brass and steel using a mask. The brass has falloff in the diffuse and reflect slot with frensel reflections. The steel is just simple chrome with a bump.
