I modelled a room in 3ds max.....here's the image!!

This image shows you've got a pretty good grasp of the basics of 3d. To improve it you might want to spend a little time on the attention to detail such as creases on the bedspread and pillows, and adding texture details such as bump and reflections. These sorts of things add to realism and help to sell the image. Also, try and think about what sort of textures you should put on specific surfaces. For example, not many people have tiles on their bedroom floors, maybe put a carpet or wood texture on it. The same goes for lights. You've got a bright light at the top of your scene but your background image is saying that it's daytime. Maybe add a direct light (the best light for sunlight) coming in through the window and tone down the inside light a bit.

All this kind of stuff is probably a bit ahead of where you're at at the moment, but it's good to start thinking about it now. After a while you'll start to think like this and it'll just come naturally.

Thanx for the suggestions frnd...! yaa....that's one point i wasn't getting that it's daytime outside...but my inside light looks as if it's somewhat evening or night...! will this direct light do?? will try and see. well.. i had given reflection in the floor but it's not visible in the image..!
Thanx again....and do keep advising me...!!

Also the colour of your direct light will have an effect. Try something like RGB: 191, 192, 173 for sunlight.

Its good work man. Great to see how much you are progressing.

I don't have much to add. Steve Martin has already said everything I agree with.

@ Steve...! i tried direct light but the problem in it is that the light should come thru the open window but direct light doesn't cast too much light .... i guess... can u help me further in this regard??

Vray is a separate program. Your tutor probably won't teach it to you. Unless he's awesome. You can get a demo here:

Can you post an image of what the direct light looks like?

But even if your tutor doesn't teach you vRay, you should still learn it. Because its awesome.

I actually meant a render so I could see what effect it was having. Maybe angle the light so it's going in the window a bit more. You've got it in the right postition for illuminating an exterior scene, but for an interior scene you have to cheat a bit so the light goes in the window. Point the light in the window a bit more and post a render so we can have a look at it.

Are you using any Global Illumination?

Which renderer are you using?

Global Illumination is the method of bouncing the light off of objects in your scene.

Instead of normal light in max, where a light beam hits a surface and stops, Global Illumination calculated all of the bounces of that light giving more accurate and realistic lighting.

It is what Radiosity tries to achieve. I think another method is using Photon calculation. In vray you can use a number of different methods like irradiance mapping.

Well Radiosity is a TYPE of GI, but there are much better methods. But I think you get the point now anyway.

I'm not sure about your photometrics, as I've only used Radiosity In Vue5, and that allowed to use any type of lights.

Vray will work with most types of lights I think, and even has its own lights that produce superior results.

Tutorial posted.

BTW, for your image good days, you'll need to add a light or two on the inside of your building.
