Hi - I'm a newbie to max so please go easy!
I've created a map of GB given it some extrude and it looks OK but I need to round the edges of the map. When I apply the mesh smooth it rips it into sections - nice effect but not what Im after. I need the face to be 1 solid flat shape with the edges rounded to the back side. Any ideas!
Thanks in advance for any input.

Wait... the UVW map?
What modifier are you using? I like editable poly the most. It sounds like that's what you're using.

Do you mean a map of Great Britain?
Can you chamfer the edges you want rounded.? If that doesn't work, can you post an image?

Was it created from a spline? If so you'll need to do a little bit extra if you want to use meshsmooth. Or you can try using the bevel modifier to see if that gives you what you want. With a bit of trial and error you should get something pretty good. You probably wont be able to smooth it though.
