Hey guys, thought about this a while back, not sure if its worth the time however, have any of you ever tried selling your 3d models via website? I was looking at [Link to www.exchange3d.com] and thinking about signing up, I wonder if anyone really makes any money doing this? Please feel free to comment, I'd love to hear from others thinking about doing this or have had some success selling their models! : )

The thought has crossed my mind. But ive never tried it. Id feel a bit conflicted giving up the ownership of my best models. I think i would have to build them especially for that purpose so i wasnt too attached smile.gif

are there any guidelines for these things? what if you buy a good-looking car model, and then find out everything's named Box01, Cylinder02, etc, and that it's actually a crummy mesh underneath, with five meshsmooth iterations thrown on it grin.gif
i guess it's much like real-life smile.gif you bought a lemon

Some time ago I considered uploading some stuff to Flat Pyramid. I can't remember exactly what kept me from doing it. I think I had an issue about what they said about copyrights.
Even though I realize the sites that I've seen sell your stuff for a percentage and it is sold royalty free, there is nothing to keep the site creator, or anyone else for that matter, from selling your work as their own, possibly even copyrighting it themselves.
I keep hearing it's easy and cheap to copyright your stuff, but I'll be danged if I found a cheap easy way. Let me know if you know. wink.gif

I thought of selling stuff on Turbosquid once, but all the tax forms you had to fill out scared me off. That and the reasons that Tyson mentioned.
