I understand most of it but i have problem with starting modelling.
I... have no idea how to put this templates into left and front viewports. How do i do it!? Also, i want to keep aspect ratio of the templates. It's realyl sad that almost everything is well explained, and i don't know how to do this one, easy thing.
Thanks.

Hey man, welcome and nice avatar!

I dont have max on this PC, and my other is rendering for a while, so I cant make any screenshots. But I'll try anyway.

What you do is make a plane, use the Keyboard Entry thingo on the right to maually type the size parameters.

Then put the image in the diffuse slot of a material, click the "show bitmap in viewport (or something) then apply it to the plane.

Repeat for the otehr views.

Thanks for help, but...
Still, it's hard to get proper ratio (i have given both boxes parameters 100x100, and the second one is much larger than the first oO) and i don't see templates in LEFT and FRONT viewports. Mhm. Also i'm not sure how am i supposed to place the planes, so i can properly model it in these two (Left and Front) viewports.

Btw, your avatar is also great - guitar reminds me of my Cort X-2 smile.gif

Heres the shots.

Your active viewport is the one with the yellow outine. Right click in a viewport to make it active.

1. Right click in the FRONT viewport. Choose PLANE and use the Keyboard Entry to make a plane 100x100.

2. Make the LEFT viewport active. Then make another plane.

3. Click the SNAP button on the tool bar and move them so theyre like this.

4. Put the image in the diffuse slot, click the Show Bitmap button, then apply the material to each of the planes.

After i press the "Show bitmap" button, the bitmap is being shown only in perspective viewport. I still can't see bitmaps in front and left viewports. Anyway, thanks for this step-by-step tutorial - it really helped me - now i only need to figure out this bitmap-thingy and at last i can start my modelling. Hurray!

yep, press F3 to toggle between shaded and wireframe views. Press F4 when shaded mode is on to show edges.
