someone taught me to make the stick hand with splines. it didn't turn good. which way is better to do the stick hand?
~ forgive me for too many question~
I presume we're still talking snowmen here. I'd probably start with a skinny cylinder. Use the cut tool to cut the bases of the fingers into the main part and then extrude them out.[Link to www.3dprevis.com]
but i want to make the hand move. so the stick have to be something in a shape of human. so later when i apply bone it can move .
~ forgive me for too many question~
Use the bend modifier.
A lot of these questions that you are asking are pretty basic and could be solved if you just explored max a bit to see what it could do. If you can, buy a book called the 3ds max bible and go through it to see what max can really do. We don't mind helping you out, but trust me, it's much more fun to explore and test the programs features. Once you get a better idea of what it can do, you'll begin to learn how you can do practically anything.[Link to www.3dprevis.com]
hey hun...i bought the book. the 3ds max bible. and you know what?i'm not a rich wan. my heart still aching...
i already read through...i learn alot for what i'm doing. thanks then. i'll just stop asking ok. thanks lot for what y'all teach. especially tyson. he's been very patient with me. bye!!
~ forgive me for too many question~
nah nobody said that you stop asking. Ask and post everything you don't understand, but as Steve said, that's all just basic stuff. You can google and look in free online tutorials, there's lots of them made for beginners and they do explain max's basic's.
And you can also post here if there's something that you don't understand, or need an advice or something.
Exploring a new program is definitely one of my favorites, especially that first few days when everything is new and exciting and when you find your self overwhelmed, and the thing with max is, no matter how long you used it, there's always something new to learn.
All that is needed to learn something is time, patience and curiosity, the results come as a rewards afterwards.
The secret of creativity is knowing how to hide your sources.

I didn't say stop asking, I said we don't mind helping out. In fact, it's pretty much the primary reason I'm here. I just think that problem solving is half the fun of this sort of art. You don't get that with a pencil or brush, and I think it is what sets digital art apart from other forms of art. So by all means, ask a question if you're really stuck and going nowhere, but try a few methods first and see what happens.[Link to www.3dprevis.com]
Yeah, don't leave, everyone here really enjoys answering questions at all different levels.
Steve was just saying that before you turn to the forum, check out the max user reference or a max tutorial and if your really stuck ask away.
That way you end up learning quicker because you force yourself to problem solve, often the answer is right there in a list of modifiers or something.
No one here minds loads of questions from beginners. its one of the main reasons the forum is here, Personally I come here before I even check my email in the morning and I get a kick out of solving someones problem and also hearing how everyone else would approach the same problem.
sorry guys..been very emotional this few days because of the 3d thing..*take a deep breath*. sorry..im really stress..that's why..
~ forgive me for too many question~
It's all for fun right? We are ALL here to help. I don't think anyone here will turn you wrong, even when it's not what you want to hear, it's still good advice.
Don't worry, I think everyone here knows how stressful this stuff can be. If it is getting to much, take a break from it if you can. A day or even a few hours not thinking about ti can reinvigorate your mind and might help you come up with new ideas.[Link to www.3dprevis.com]
Yep or do it my way and sit in front of the computer for 16 hrs getting more and more frustrated hoping that somehow you can force inspiration.... humm I should really stop doing that. Please support us and post a [Link to www.digitalartsfront.com] on your website.
I know that feeling. If I'm having problems sometimes I feel that I can't walk away until if find a little glimmer of hope from a small breakthrough of some kind otherwise I'll just end up being stressed away from the computer rather than in front of it. And if that little breakthrough doesn't come, it can translate in to long hours infront of the computer.[Link to www.3dprevis.com]
Yep you need to find the breakthrough, man creative pursuits are kinda an emotional rollacoaster, up one min down the next. Pretty crazy but worth it in the end... well most of the time. Please support us and post a [Link to www.digitalartsfront.com] on your website.
