Hi,

Can anyone recommend a program that allows you to easily manipulate cut pasted areas of an image?

For example, I want to be able to drag select, easily rotate, resize, color alter that selected portion of the image so that I can paste it in a new spot.
Everyone program I have used has not allowed me to do this or made it (obviously) too cryptic to find out. Cant find anything on youtube mentioning it in the way that I need it. What do you think? So far I have tried GIMP and Photoshop ofcourse.

So you've tried photoshop? What you do is
Use the selection tools such as rectangular marquee
Click and drag. Right click the selection then choose
Transform selection. Then right click again for rotate
Scale etc. Hold shift and scale for uniform scale.
Shift and alt. Scales in place. To colour correct.
Image then adjustments and one of many choices
Like hue saturation or curves will give you plenty of
Control.

Ok well that helped a bit but it didnt do anything to the image. I selected my rectangle of texture area. I used rotate etc, but all it did was rotate the marquee selection, not the image it was selected.

I have tried instead, copying and pasting (which results in a new layer ) but now there are virtually no options, and when I choose image at the the top and roate from there, it rotates all layers. I dont know why it is so unmanageable and such a popular piece of software.

Ok I have played around and apparently there is things you c an do the selection, the image, and the layer and I was kind of in the wrong modes. Not sure which one I am in yet but I find pressing ESC gets me to a different on and it seems to work. Thanks!

Also try Ctrl+T for the transform tool.
