Hey everyone, this place came to the resuce before with help for me so I think it can help me out once more.
I am constructing a chess board in 3D studio max 2009 for a homework assignment and I am at the point of having to texture the individual squares, keeping the black pieces one texture and the whites another texture. I (think I) remember my teacher mentioning something about UV Mapping to do it but I got confused with the whole process. So can someone give me an easy method to do this? Id hate to have to select every single white/black square to do it.
Thanks.

or apply a uvw map modifier on the existing chessboard to manipulate the mapping. just play with the size and tiling in the uvw map to
get the checkers just right. You can also use the checker map as a mask inside a blend material if you want a two materials on the different squares not just black and white diffuse.
