hi!!im not that good in 3D max specially in vray coz im only a newbie on vray !!!but if you want realistic scene, you should use vray !!!but if you want to render it on mental ray ,,just enable final gather,caustic, and the global illumination in the indirect illumination roll out, and adjust the light i think it's to bright and turn on the shadows of the light to make it more realistic and put some bump on the wall tiles, maybe you can use omni light its up to you how many lights you want but be sure to set it right!bout water i have no idea! im using mental ray before and i use that setting... this is my work in mental ray

It's probably too late but it might help if you gave the water something more to reflect. Unfortunately I don't know how to add reflection environments in mental ray. That's what you should be aiming for though.
