Fluids simulated in realflow. I did have some ice cubes that I dropped into the glass before pouring the liquid (hence the whole reason for doing it in realflow) but I couldn't work out how to export the ice cubes back into max and have them keep their positions from the sim. So, no ice this time.
Its just a reflection. How would you do that though? Multi/sub and material ID's with two different vray mats? Please support us and post a [Link to www.digitalartsfront.com] on your website.
i like the tutorial looks good here is a basic tutorial on how to do a reflection Hope this helps.
1. Fire up 3dsmax.
2. Press 'm'
3. Change the box where u see 'Normal' i.e. material type. Change it to raytrace.
4. Change the colours to the colours you want.
5. In the maps section click the box next to reflection.

8. Render the scene

Haha thanks scott, I already know how to do reflections. I was talking about making a gold rim on the glass. Please support us and post a [Link to www.digitalartsfront.com] on your website.
Great work Matt. You're getting quite a few photorealistic renders happening. And to top it off you used realflow and are still quite clearly sane. Well done.[Link to www.3dprevis.com]
Oh I dont know about that... my sanity is definitly not what it was. After generating an awesome sim with frosty ice cubes falling into the glass and delicious scotchy goodness smothering it with its velour caress, and then not being able to import the damn cubes into max in their correct positions... I was angry. And after seeing what it could have been the sim I ended up using was such a letdown. Please support us and post a [Link to www.digitalartsfront.com] on your website.
I have got my arse into gear and worked out how to sim the ice in reactor, so then I just have to export as a whole and pour the liquid in.Please support us and post a [Link to www.digitalartsfront.com] on your website.
