Ok so I'm finally going to ask this because I can't find a straight answer.
Why would you get VRAY when mentalray comes stock and does the same thing? Or does it not?
I can do HDRI, DOF, blah blah blah, and bleh bleh bleh in mental ray just fine.
Cure my ignorance please.

Vray is simple, fast and effective. There are more realistic renderers out there, but I can setup a render in vray in 5 min's that for all intensive purposes will get the job done.

I use vray because I can get good results very quickly, and its tolerant to my rediculously poly-heavy scenes.
