So far I can't think of anything to complain about.
I've been going through this place, like an old person in a fruit aisle, but everything seems perfect.
Where do we call it forums and tutorials? The community section is a tab it has a sub menu inside it that includes forums. Same goes for education? Am I missing something? Please support us and post a [Link to www.digitalartsfront.com] on your website.
Ohhh I see now, it has sub menus in the blue bar... I didnt even notice that there

It is ok, I wouldn't talk to me either...
I'm actually having fun playing with the new features. This is really cool!
I have force myself to close the browser during class or I start playing on the site instead of taking notes.
Oh my god! I love using the Edit Artwork section!
It's brilliant!
Thank you. I featured your work yesterday did you get the email notification? We didn't have a way to test it until we went live. Please support us and post a [Link to www.digitalartsfront.com] on your website.
Currently it is either on or off, we will add this feature in a few days once we have had some rest
If you want to turn it off you can do so from the the account settings page Please support us and post a [Link to www.digitalartsfront.com] on your website.
Worx well, alot of cool new features.
Few questions though my "message center" says [187] is there a way to make that only for the PM inbox?
Also can we customize our e-mail notifications? I seem to get an e-mails for everything X).
"I change my mind so much I can't even trust it. My mind changes me so much I can't even trust myself."
Yes you can turn off email notifications on the account settings page.
The msg center is designed to allow you to keep track of everything that happens on the site. I suggest you go through and delete all of the things you have missed and start fresh. We will not be allowing people to customize it. Please support us and post a [Link to www.digitalartsfront.com] on your website.
I see all of the topics in the message center now, pretty cool, thnx.
"I change my mind so much I can't even trust it. My mind changes me so much I can't even trust myself."
It's great guys, seems you've put a crapload of work into it. I haven't found anything wrong with it yet but I'll let you know if I come across anything.[Link to www.3dprevis.com]
Probably not but unless we get more requests for it, it will be found at the bottom of my very long jobs list. Please support us and post a [Link to www.digitalartsfront.com] on your website.
You guys are allowed to vote for something other than awesome, this is not an ego massage exercise. We actually need to know. Please support us and post a [Link to www.digitalartsfront.com] on your website.
On the "Edit Button" issue . . . It is common sense to have it. A user makes a post and sees an error and can not fix it. The user must make another post. The user makes a post and shortly after needs to change it in some way. I mentioned to Isaac how there are people that do no pay any attention to the automatic spell checker but later would like to fix the message. All this and more because there is no "Edit Button". The extra messages just clutter up the works. It does not look very professional either. Something to consider . . .
Isaac was talking about the Private Message system, there are edit buttons on the forums and comments all over the site.
The reason there is no edit button on the Private Messages is that it works like an email system. Eg. you cant edit an email after you've already sent it to someone.
The edit button in the forums should be under your avatar. Please support us and post a [Link to www.digitalartsfront.com] on your website.
Both spooky and I are used to the BB code forums, where you are allowed to edit PMs. And it's funny you mention the current system being similar to email, since it is headed in that direction as well. The Microsoft exchange server email allows you to recall emails and edit them, within your company email system.
It is a luxury, but it should be added to the list of prospective "amendments" to the code.
Competition submissions to be selectable from users gallery (or upload new one, either/or). This should also allow commenting on individual submissions to a competition as well
Some sort of "[whatever-image]" tag to inline a gallery image into a thread conversation, either as a thumbnail or a scaled-down (to not break the forum layout) image.
A couple new categories for submitting work - ganked straight from deviantART, 'Flowers and Plants' (we have landscape, but nothing really for flora in particular), Street (Maybe comes under Scenes? I dunno, 'street' photography is a genre in itself), and perhaps a category for Macro work, although 'true' macro work is actually pretty rare amongst photographers - I personally don't know anyone who gets their lenses closer than 5cm from their subject, uses a bellows or extension tubes.
Last thing I would like to see is a folder system for organizing user galleries. But I'm really not too hung up over it. Your gallery layout is silky sexy smooth anyway that it's not bothering me too much. Dense, but not too dense. You kinda had to use folders in Deviantart because their gallery view was so 'sparse'.
The main one I'm really keen on seeing is the extra couple of categories. The rest are just niceties that I don't care too much about. Don't need to go nuts on it, I like the streamlined submission process compared to DeviantART's fifty-fucking-million-categories-for-everything system.
I'm personally going to relate a lot of things back to DeviantART as that's where I originally started before Matt/VarnishedOtter nudged me over here. I mean the site is pretty shithouse, but it is kind of the benchmark for these sorta communities.
1.) Select Image from Gallery for Challenges [Added to Jobs list]
2.) Commenting on Challenge Entries [Added to Jobs List]
3.) Tag to insert image into post [We have this code, it is hashed out, need to work out why before we implement it again]
4.) Add to categorization system [This is something we will defiantly look at when we have time]
5.) Folders for Galleries [I came up with really cool system for this this morning]
I was thinking almost like a BBCode type thing that puts the little thumbail with the border around the image, and perhaps an alternate BBCode to display a scaled up version rather than a BBCode, but what the hey, anything's good to me
Regarding the submit challenge from gallery suggestion, I had planned on adding this functionality for v4 but it got dropped for more important things. We will have it sometime soon though, I know its annoying as hell to upload twice. Please support us and post a [Link to www.digitalartsfront.com] on your website.
Haha I did the same thing man, I was like when did we add spell checking to the site. I think it was added in version 3Please support us and post a [Link to www.digitalartsfront.com] on your website.
I though the spell checker was an add on to firefox...cause I remember it use to sqiggle line me all the time and after a few formats and updates now it doesnt unless there is away of turning it on and off the i just dont know about
It is ok, I wouldn't talk to me either...
if anyone wants help with it (as it isn't working) ill tell you what I did
first, in tools>options go to the advance tab
you will see a browsing section in the "general" tab and an option that says "check my spelling as I type" so turn that on.
if that doesn't work, in a text field on a website (a place you can type something, google will work) right click and you will see "add dictionary", clicking on it will re-direct you to a page which will allow you to install a dictionary (even Australian English )
should work now
apparently with the newer installs of Firefox, they don't give you a dictionary
It is ok, I wouldn't talk to me either...
So I know most of my ideas are a bit crazy, but I think I'm on the money with this one.
Can we have the "Original Size" button, found in the gallery, open in a new window instead of making us use the back button to return to the site?
Ill add it to the list if others agree. If you agree please post a YES in response to this post. Please support us and post a [Link to www.digitalartsfront.com] on your website.
Hi guys...I just want to say that I like v4...it all looks great and works fine...
btw..that slideshow is amazing, I love that
"Criticizing is easy, art is difficult."
hm...I have one question. I hope you guys won't laugh at me
You got that tutorials section on the homepage, with this 5 or something recent tutorials. Can I found all of these tutorials on this site? I just can't find it. Idk why, but I'm feeling like It's only me who's having this issue, so please apologize me if it's a stupid question
The other thing is this site [Link to www.bratz-designs.net] . I'm not sure what this is, but I got redirected to that site like 2 times or something.
"Criticizing is easy, art is difficult."
To access tutorials you need to go to the education section then click other tutorials in the sub menu. The sections fold out when you click on them. This needs tweaking to make it more apparent.
Could you please tell us the exact context in which you were redirected to that page. If anyone else is having that problem please let me know. This is important. Please support us and post a [Link to www.digitalartsfront.com] on your website.
Well, the first time it was from my Msg Center. I wanted to check out some challange entry, and I got redirected there. The second time was like 5 minutes ago, when I clicked on a tutorial on the homepage. In both case the links worked fine when I clicked them again.
"Criticizing is easy, art is difficult."
Ok that is very strange thanks for pointing it out. If anyone else has this problem please point it out immediately. Please support us and post a [Link to www.digitalartsfront.com] on your website.
