I started creating a warehouse scene to house the animation of my Tactical Droid. After messing around with Rayfire and Fume, I feel like I've final achieved the the effects I've been seeing in my head for months. This is a bare warehouse for now, but I will be filling it up. I'll post more as it goes along.

Ya.. I'm a little worried about it. It takes quite a while per frame. I have a feeling that this may just be a cool modeling job and not much for animation. I'm using a VRay Sun, 25 - VRay Sphere's in the lights to light the lenses and cast light onto the ceiling and 25 - spot lights to the effect right. I'm going to try using a lightmap and see what happens.

you could try caching the GI to speed things up for an animation, and rather than filling the whole space map out what the camera will do and then only fill whats needed for each shot to lower the overhead, and maybe you could use lower res details like mapping renders of your stock onto boxes, or using camera map per pixel for the entire background as a separate pass. Camera mapping would mean you could render shots for the background elements in just a few minutes provided the camera doesnt do some crazy whip panning 360 degree move.
Its looking really nice. very convincing, good atmosphere etc.. I'd like to see some sort of captured alien space craft hovering somewhere in there What kind of action/FX did you have in mind for your tactical droid?
I thought about pop-up target and some on rails that slide by.. Some would be terrorist and some innocent by standers. I figure out more once I finish stocking shelves and create a forklift.

Nice work im looking foreword to target practice.
