Well it's 11pm on the night before my wife is booked in for a caesarean to give birth to our first child. The baby is breech (head up instead of down which is not ideal) so we had to take the caesarean option. Quite a weird situation to be in really, knowing that events that occur tomorrow are going to change your life in a massive way. So don't be suprised if I go a bit quite in the near future. I expect once the baby comes home early next week, I may not have as much time to spend on the computer as usual. I'll still get on when I can though, and update you on my efforts to teach 3ds max to a newborn. I think I'll start with the pros and cons of FK vs IK... [Link to www.3dprevis.com]
Definitely a good starting point for any child. rigging is an essential life skill afterall.
wow man all the best, consider you hand firmly shaken in a blokey congratulatory kind of way .
Good luck with everything!
I think a person the size of a baby would be better off with a track ball. Also i hear infants can't use their eyes very well so you might have to customize your UI to be very colorful.
Actually its prob easier for the child to determine between black and white, as they are two exact opposites, my boy had a black and white mobile, which is supposed to be better than a colourful one, as easier to differentiate between the two when your eyes are new.
Just make sure the resolution is like 800x600, and as he gets older crank it up to 1680x1050 or whatever you are running on
But all the best! Hope everything goes ok
~=~ Whoever said nothing is impossible never tried pushing a revolving door ~=~
I've been wanting to congratulate you since we got the news of the wee one in the Women/Computers thread. I became a grandfather in April and now that mama is back to work, baby finds her way to my knee more than my keyboard. Anyway, that being said, Congratulations!!
Thanks for the well wishes. Everything went well, we had a little girl weighing in a 7lbs 13oz or about 3.5 kg. The caesarean is an interesting thing, the had a protective curtain up, but I could see what was going on in the reflection on the big light that was above the table. So I saw her getting born (pulled out bum first) which was certainly one of the most unique things I've ever experienced. The last few days has been a massive adjustment especially with sleeping (or not sleeping as seems to happen most of the time) and the next few will be interesting as well, as we just got her home today. Spending nearly 5 days in hospital isn't the greatest thing I've ever done, but with in my spare time I managed to get through a book on creating game texures in photoshop. I've attached a couple of pics. The first one was taken about 5 seconds after they pulled her out. They dropped the curtain down for a moment to show us and I quickly took this snap. The other one is of her looking pretty unimpressed at her first bath.[Link to www.3dprevis.com]
wow.... that is so intense man. Seriously dude congratulations I have no idea how you must be feeling right now, How is the wife she doing ok?Please support us and post a [Link to www.digitalartsfront.com] on your website.
She was sick and faint for the first day or two, but she's a lot better now. Still sore though, and she can't really do too much because of the gaping hole that was cut into her on Thursday. So I'm doing all the housework, driving etc for the next few weeks at least.[Link to www.3dprevis.com]
aww man shes a beautifull baby. That first image is incredible what a thing to witness, things like that make me soo glad I was born a man. Hows jackie going? the caesarean must have been traumatic.
I got to trim the cord. They cut it fairly long and i went over to the little observation table where they were checking her and trimmed it back to what it is now. It was like cutting a sausage. Good point about the left hand though, I hadn't noticed that. Have to get her a guitar as well now.[Link to www.3dprevis.com]
Did they give you those preschool scissors to cut with. I remember cutting my sons cord, it was, as you said "cutting a sausage" but with some dull ass scissors.

I'm getting more sleep than I thought I would, she'll sleep pretty much from 10ish through until 3.30-4.00ish. And even then she doesn't scream and carry on so there are no complaints so far. Except that last night I had to devise a method of taking off my shirt without smearing poo all over my face.[Link to www.3dprevis.com]
