Okay, so I love painting in photoshop. Done lots of it with fantasy things etc. I've done research into working as a concept artist and worked out a lot start or work as well as a texturing artist. Im really interested in gaining these skills so I was wondering if anyone can tell me a good place to start? Any tutorials, freeware etc I can play with?

Start by getting an avatar. Then get 3dsmax, xsi, lighwave, maya, or something that can do texture baking.

I'm not quite sure what you are asking here? Do you want to be a texture artist or a concept artist. I would suggest you get this months issue of imaginefx all about concept art for games.

Well if you want to do textureing photoshop's a good place to start. You'll also need some 3d software. Blender's a good free one and a few people on here have used wings which is also free.

I can vouch for the goodness of Wings3D as a modeller. But it is only a modeller. You'll need a rendering program to import into such as 3DS Max, Vue, Yafray etc anyway.

And if you end up getting Max, it has alot of things that make it better than Wings3D, even if some other things are missing.

I didn't realise wings was only a modeller. Blender might be the way to go then if you're after a free 3d package.
