Ok, so I'm guessing quite a few of you folks have tried windows 7 and as its coming out in october
I'm thinking of finally taking the plunge into a new OS. I'm so used to XP and there are so many little (and big) programs I have in my toolkit that may or may not run on it.

My question is. Have people found problems running anything on windows 7?

No, no and no. I have been in the beta for about 8 months now and I have run into zero problems. If you do run into problems you can always set whatever exe it is to run in vista or xp compatibility mode. It really is a very solid operating system.

Ive been using the Windows 7 RC version and Ive had a few problems with my graphics tablet and some sound card problems, but I havent had any problems with 3Dmax though so it should work ok.

Mind you Im still using XP more than W7 (I have it dual booted).
It is ok, I wouldn't talk to me either...

Are you issues with the tablet in CS4? because I have issues in CS4 and not in CS2 which would indicate that it is Adobe's fault. Also seen as you are in the RC some sound card manufactures have not made WIN7 Drivers yet. I have an Audiophile 2496 and I was very surprised when that worked in RC. Have you tried installing you drivers in compatibility mode and run as admin mode.

No, it is an open gl issue in cs4. It causes massive brush lag. They are working on it apparently. In the mean time I use cs2 to paint.

well, thats good news. I'm really looking forward to getting it. I just needed to get a good review from people who use their computer for more than word processing and facebook. thanks for the advice.

So I'm the only one who have some problems with max on 7?confused.gif
Maybe someone can help...I'm using Max 2009 on 7 and sometimes the right click menu disappearsconfused.gif
Actually, it's not disappearing, I can see the options when I move the cursor over the menu, but it's pretty annoying. And when it happens, my CPU usage goes up to 100%..it's weird...
But like I said, it happens only sometimes, like ones in 10 launches...

Hey! I think I sold this quad menu disappearing problem. I don't know is this was because of my graphics card, but I think that the problem was caused by Windows 7's transparent theme. I turned off the transparency and now it works fine...

Ok so I bought Windows 7 the other day. A little pricey but so far its totally worth it.
Ive just been setting it all up and have only found a few small problems here and there mainly 64 bit compatibility issues.
However, as mentioned above I too am having some problems with brush lag in photoshop.
I thought it was just cs4 but for some reason I'm getting a split second pause everytime I make a new stroke even in photoshop cs (version 8). There doesnt seem to be the same lag in paint so I guess its a photoshop/wacom driver issue. has anyone solved this problem, maybe an older version of photoshop will work?

I had that issue in cs4 but I do not have it at all in cs2. I swear it is an opengl issue with photoshop itself.

I just had a thought and it seems to have fixed the lag in both CS and CS4. I went in to msconfig and
disabled the tablet PC input service (as opposed to the "tabletservicewacom" service) and rebooted. now it all works. I guess the various features for tablet pcs were getting in the way of the wacom. and they were designed to not interfere with ms paint but not photoshop.. or something.
