Anyone thinking of upgrading anytime soon? I imagine it'll be full of bugs early on so I'm not gonna bother just yet. But I am starting to think about upgrading my whole computer in the near future so I'm guessing it'll probably come bundled. Anyone know if you can run Max on Linux?

apparently max isn't even fully compatible with vista at the moment. So best to wait. maybe there'll be a patch or an update soon, maybe you'll have to wait until max 10. who knows? regardless like you said it will be full of bugs. Max won't run on linux
and it's a story that might bore you, but you don't have to listen, because I always knew it was going to be like that.

I haven't looked into the whole Vista thing yet... Taking the same tack as Steve: waiting a few months for an upgrade (if I can afford it).

Why the question about Linux? Do you want to ditch Windows all together (short of a dual-boot or running either through a VM)?
... or did you think I was too stupid to know what a yoogoogoly was?

Nah, not really considering it just wondering if there are any alternatives.

I just spoke to a guy who owns a computer shop (Wes) and he said that the two people that he new that tried Vista (must have been the beta versions) couldn't even get their grpahics and sound cards to work with it. Needless to say I might wait a while before I get it.

That's rediculous! Maybe it was an issue with the beta version that's fixed now. They'd be stupid not to support all current VGA cards out now. Oh well, what can you expect? Hopefully a few months is all it'll need. We'll see...

Yea im sick of xp ... I never liked it and linux just is not an option for me. It's great but I can't run half the things I own. All the new features for vista look like fluff to me. I would assume that you are bassically buying a new shell and skin with a few new security features... Not much of an improvement. Also I don't have a 64bit chip so im just gonna wait untill I buy a new machine ... and then just get a pirated version

i use linux(ubuntu ) for the internet xp for projects ...dislike the ram limit of 32bit xp

vista is on my mind but i havent a clue what will work on it or not, to much hassle.

64 bit xp sounds more likely for me to try . either way ill have a dual boot with xp 32 on the c drive somewhere, so i can switch back n forth .

Duel boot is a good idea, or wait a bit longer. I just got vista and I'm not a massive fan. It tries hard to be good and it does have some good points but it can also be very buggy and uncooperative.
