Just thought I'd start a thread for people to post any early 3d work they've done. Yes, finally a place you can post all those crappy models and scenes you didn't want anyone to see. I thought it might be interesting to see how far people have come.

If you can mention when you made it as well that would be good.

I'll get the ball rolling.
Both of these vids were created mid 2003 for a 3d animation class at Uni. We had to make some city/space scenes for the scouts who were holding their jamoree in Adelaide that year. Not sure if I made the final cut.

I see it now. The mountain represents the misconception of the white middle aged male, often seen as all powerful and unmovable while the cage represents a feeling of being trapped by this age old misrepresentation. Wow, it really speaks to me.

Heres my first attempt at a 3d movie. I think I made this in max 4 back in 2001 or something like that. I did it to teach myself all of the things involved, I did all the sound with midi and a guitar. the voices are me with a pitch shift (pretty lame but I was doing it on my own) I was pretty happy with it at the time.

Here's my first ever piece of 3D work:

[Link to xs232.xs.to]

Its a 3D model of my bedroom (although it was made from my head rather than photos so its probably not a perfect representation) Some of the textures are different too (the wallpaper and posters arent true to the real thing but it didnt matter at the time). Its not exactly lifelike but I'm still quite pleased with the result.

The bedsheet was pretty lucky though, I just happened to find a good texture that gave the object a folded effect ><

I personally still see myself as a novice when it comes to this stuff, but I really enjoy messing around with it.

EDIT: Oh, and here is the other piece I did at the same time. The assessment was to create both an interneal and external scene. This building is the entrance to a shopping village near where I live. I'm not particularly happy with the background/floor but the building turned out ok, and I learned how to do reflections for the windows which I thought was cool.

I know! Great start in 3D! I was a mess @ the beggining, I was trying to look up my first model in Maya, I made a 79 Trans am, black with the golden eagle in the hood, very Smokey and the Bandit type with the honey comb rims... but I cant find it!! GRRR.... hahaha I woud show a wireframe of it so you could see what a cluts i was with polygonal modeling back in the day... not a pretty site.

I made this back in 2001 in 3ds Max 5. The sad thing is I haven't gotten any better smile.gif

Thanks. Too nice. It was completly made with box-modeling. If I make a car again someday I'd probably have to learn how to work with NURBS, and probably not in MAX since I heard MAX isn't all that good at NURBS, so I might try that when I get time to learn Rhino.

Yeh, my first car went horribly wrong. I never finished it.

Dunno if I can call that finished smile.gif

My intention was to make an animation when it was driving thru a parking garage at high speed but I ended up with a 2gig uncompressed .AVI-file that wouldn't open after 3 days of rendering frown.gif

I think this is the earliest work I can submit, my first attempt with NURBS....realized too late that triangular faces are not a good idea!! >.<
