Looks like it has some good amount of detail coming along. Whats the poly limit and are you going to use normal maps?

The splendid thing about EV is that the sprites aren't rendered realtime, they're actually just pictures. So for the transporter you see, there will be 36 pictures for the ship. This is wonderful because I can render everything at full quality, and there's no poly limit whatsoever. Thinking about it, it'd probably be better practise and experience if I used normal maps, and noted my poly count, but there's so much to do already, there isn't a huge amount of room for making low poly models.

Also on the topic of normal mapping, Max does come with a normal mapping utility doesn't it... under 'render to texture'?
I've used the normal mapping utility for Crytek's Crysis, but this is slightly different. Do I put the rendered normal map under the 'bump' map slot on a standard material?
