As portraited in the comic. If I'd know how to do it I would've added some rubble falling down from it as it rises from the ground and some dust blowing through the martian atmosphere...oh well Feel free to comment.
Pretty cool model, but I could do with an environment to really make this scene pop Please support us and post a [Link to www.digitalartsfront.com] on your website.
Any suggestions? I'm using a tweaked mr Physical Sky as an environment together with a lot of haze/fog to get the martian look, so the environment slot is kinda "taken"
:EDIT: And if you have any advice on how to add some martian dusty wind/sand storm effect or any directions on a tut would be awsome.. thanks for the comment
the sky looks great, with the sun and the fog, maybe some more work on details on the ground.
Anyhow, great idea, i watched the movie couple of days ago and was impressed with the cg work they did, now i'm waiting to see transformers 2, i heard that cg is insane
Edit:
For dust you could use a particle system, set them to be a geometry, probably planes, orient them twords the camera, and create some debree and dust flakes material and asign it to them, if you have afterburn you could create something looking really spectacular relatively easy.

Well I kinda think you need to model the surface of mars, and either use a particle system or scatter mod to get the debris falling from the ship. Also I think it would be nice to backlight the ship so that you get some nice refraction in the glass. Please support us and post a [Link to www.digitalartsfront.com] on your website.
