Is the glow on a separate layer?

If it is, set it to Overlay mode as it is an additive blend mode, then fiddle the layer opacity. Additive is pretty much the most awesome thing for glow.

You can also try making a copy of all the layers merging the copies into a single layer, apply a gaussian blur of like 3-5px and set it to either screen or overlay mode depending on which looks best, then fiddle the layer Opacity.

yeah, i put the separate layer on screen mode, but i'll try using the technique you suggested. it'll probably look better that way.
